Mandela Day at Computer Science

On Mandela Day the Department of Computer Science donated fifteen computer workstations (similar to the one in the picture) to the Lynedoch School at the Sustainability Institute in Stellenbosch.

The donation will support the school’s initiative in establishing a Computer Centre that would benefit learners to conduct research for their  projects, study, and engage in social networking. The Computer Centre further aims to extend into the community by teaching basic computer literacy to working adults and by teaching computer courses to  young adults and the unemployed.
The Computer Science department was able to make the donation as part of its social responsibility initiative by refurbishing end of life laboratory computer workstations, instead of disposing of them via E-Waste.
