Ubunye UCT Computer Science Outreach Week

UCT Computer Science is collaborating with the Ubunye student development society (www.ubunye.org.za) on an outreach week. Computer Science students will volunteer and participate on Ubunye’s projects for the week of Monday 14 September to Saturday 19 September 2015.

Ubunye runs the following projects for high school kids at various schools and after care centres in the townships around Cape Town:

  • TeachOut: tutoring in Maths, Science, English & Accounting
  • Inkanyezi: mentorship, career guidance for tertiary education
  • Thethani: debating for developing English language skills

Student volunteers will be provided with transport to and from the project venues. The registration deadline is 5 pm 9 September 2015. There will be a briefing meeting at 1 pm on Thursday 10 September 2015 in CS303.
