Masters in Computer Science by Dissertation (CSC5000W)

Description: This program contains no taught component. Evaluation is based on a single written research thesis in a topic chosen by supervisor and student. Please note that, starting in 2018, this is not the default option for a Masters degree in Computer Science at UCT, and will only be considered in rare and exceptional circumstances.

Requirements: An Honours degree in Computer Science.

Description: Starting in 2018, this is the default option for a Masters degree in Computer Science at UCT. Evaluation is based on a full-time taught component, followed by the completion of a mini-thesis.

Masters in IT by Coursework and Dissertation (CSC5003/4W)

Description: This course is for graduates in a discipline other than Computer Science. It is a full-time or part time, self study course with eight taught modules spread over 12-24 months. The final part of the course
is a mini-dissertation that constitutes the major portion of the second year. Prospective applicants should contact the MIT Coordinator (mit@cs.uct.ac.za) for more information before applying.

Requirements:
An honours degree in a subject other than Computer Science.
