Shikoh Gitau awarded Anita Borg Scholarship

Shikoh Gitau, a Kenyan PhD student who is part of the HPI Research School in the Computer Science Department, was today awarded the Anita Borg Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to female undergraduates and postgraduates from around the world who show exceptional academic and leadership skills. Shikoh has been working in the field of ICT for Development and has led the way in understanding the impediments encountered by people trying to access the Internet for the first time using their mobile phones. This scholarship, along with the one she has already received from the Hasso Plattner Institue, will ensure that she is able to pursue this work successfully.
