Anita Borg Scholars - UCT students excel in 2011!

This year 2 students in the department - Omowunmi Falola and Flora Ponjou Tasse - were selected as Anita Borg Scholars.  This is a scholarship funded by Google, in memory of Anita Borg, to encourage excellence and develop leadership among female students in Computer Science.  This is a singular accomplishment as no students from other South African universities are recipients in 2011!  Wunmi and Flora will participate in various activities organised by Google, notably a retreat in Zurich, during the course of the year.

In addition, Lyndsay Lawrence was selected as an Anita Borg finalist and also will participate in activities organised by Google this year.
